Unveiling the Mystery: Sounds of Pests in Your Home

As the nights lengthen, homeowners often find themselves unnerved by mysterious noises echoing through their homes. Contrary to the plot of horror movies, these eerie sounds typically have a more concrete explanation: pests like rodents and insects. Let’s delve into the chilling sounds these unwelcome guests make, strategies to address them, and how Sarkman can assist.

Scratching and Scuttling Sounds: The Ghostly Rats and Mice

Rodents, particularly rats and mice, are infamous for the scratching or scuttling noises as they navigate homes. From walls to attics and beneath floors, these pests cause structural damage and pose health risks. Taking swift action is crucial to address the issue effectively.

What to Do:

– Conduct a thorough inspection of your home to identify and seal any cracks or holes that may serve as entry points for rodents.

– Consider implementing traps or baits to control the rodent population and prevent further infestations.

– Seek professional assistance to effectively address the rodent problem and safeguard your home against future infestations.

Chirping and Chirring: The Haunting Insects

Insects such as crickets and beetles can produce peculiar chirping or chirring sounds reminiscent of a horror movie soundtrack. While generally less destructive than rodents, these persistent noises can be unsettling for homeowners.

What to Do:

– Identify the source of the sound and take appropriate measures to eliminate or relocate the insects from your home.

– Ensure that doors and windows are tightly sealed to prevent insects from entering and causing further disturbances.

– Consult to implement comprehensive pest control solutions tailored to your needs.

Whispering Wind: The Mysterious Drafts

Although not directly attributed to pests, the ghostly sounds of drafts and wind whistling through gaps in your home can create a haunted house ambiance. These sounds may indicate energy inefficiency and potential access points for pests.

What to Do:

– Seal gaps or cracks around doors and windows using weather stripping or caulking to prevent drafts and potential pest entry.

– Consider upgrading your home’s insulation to enhance energy efficiency and deter pests from accessing your living spaces.

– Partner with us to assess your home for potential pest entry points and implement effective sealing solutions.

Buzzing and Humming: The Alarming Electrical Issues

Pest infestations can lead to electrical problems, as ants and termites chew through wiring, resulting in buzzing or humming noises and posing a fire hazard. Prompt action is essential to mitigate risks.

What to Do:

– If you suspect electrical issues due to pest activity, immediately turn off power to the affected area to prevent further damage or potential fires.– Contact a licensed electrician to inspect and repair any damaged wiring caused by pest infestations.– Seek assistance from Killingsworth to address the root cause of the pest problem and prevent future occurrences through comprehensive pest management strategies.
By identifying and addressing these unsettling sounds associated with pests in your home, you can restore peace of mind and ensure the safety and comfort of your living environment. Contact Sarkman today for expert guidance and solutions to protect your home from unwanted guests.

Good traps! Read instructions and be patient...

Bought a couple of different traps, had most success with these. They are bigger and seem to be stronger than the others we purchased. And these were cheaper.

Gloves and instructions were very useful.

Keeping human scent off the traps and allowing the rats time to get used to them (baiting but not setting) etc. has helped catch a trap-shy rat.

Work every time - with the right bait

I have a neighbor with a huge overgrown garden (her house looks like a horror movie set as well). Consequently over the last few years we have the autumn influx of critters which move into my sheds for the winter. They even dug under the ground to come in via the floor! I have tried everything available to be kind to them, then to poison them then to trap them. Only death works because there are so many breeding mice next door. These traps are failsafe. Box has warnings in about useless bait (like cheese, peanut butter etc) and also comes with gloves and brushes to get rid of fleshy ick. You need a 2-pronged attack – I have heeded the advice and only put about six grains of poison in the middle well in each trap. I then set trap and dropped only about 2-3 grains beside trap to have a trail going to trap. Every single day I have set two traps as an experiment and every day I have caught two mice.

Note at end of November: I have now caught two mice a day for 16 days – found out they came in via a mole tunnel underground then chewed through a wall. I filled up hole n have no more since – using this method NOT ONE MOUSE HAS BEEN TRAPPED BY LEG ETC and all die quickly by instant effect as their eyes are still open in surprise. Not cruel and no lingering suffering for them, just instant.
